Roma Arrival

Back again for another summer of blogging. This time Roma, Italia! After Monica and I's excursion in JFK we boarded Alitalia, Alitalia, Ali-Ali-Alitalia (in Lady GaGa Alejandro beat). I got boardline 40 minutes of sleep but was mixed on my personal screen at my seat - between Tetris, a Chelsea Handler book, Avitar and my iPod the whole time. I'm top bunk on the less than single bed in a three person room, which is pretty sweet? yeah, no.

The residence is in a quiet location about 5 or so blocks from Pope Eggs Benedict. After arriving and getting settled we walked to campus and went to the Piazza di Popolo. Hiked up a mountain to see great views of the city and then joined the rest of the students for a pizza party at school. Saturday we took a walking tour of the city and saw all the major sites. Then we went our own way and walked possibly the whole city of Rome trying to get back. Bumped into the Vatican and said whats up and found our way back. That night we headed back toward the big V and had a drink at a cafe. Its nice to get my feet wet to turn 21 in less than two weeks.

Sunday we took an excursion through the state of Umbria (countryside) and made our way to Todi. It is the most desirable place in Italy, a medieval town. Then made our way to Titignano on a very windy road on a 50+ passenger tourist bus, so that was fun? Arriving in the center of Titignano we ate a 12 course meal at a castle, no big deal. Homemade wine, espresso, tiramissu, wild boar pasta, antipasta, pizza, crustini, venison, etc.Last night after coming back from Umbria, we scavenged the Metro and made our way to the Colessium. I think that was the point I realized I was in Roma and here for the next 6 weeks!

Today was first day of classes and just relaxed for the first time since arriving. Still a little jet lag but overall this opening weekend has been memorable and amazing. Can't wait to spend the next month and a half in the eternal city.
Tomorrow I have class at the colessium, I mean its whatever ;) Next stop is doing a full week of classes and another excursion Friday to Tivoli (its a great feeling that its the actual town and not just going to pick up take out from the Tivoli on Nammans Rd. in DE).

This weekend we are planning to make our first trip out by ourselves to Firenze (Florence).

Until then Ciao!
